Course Management

Using UE Courses for In-Person Training

UE’s online courses can be used for in-person group training sessions. You can present a course to a group or guide participants as they complete the course on their own devices.

If you would like participants to receive credit toward the Risk Management Premium Credit (RMPC) program or have their completions recorded in the UE Learning Portal, you can submit their attendance information after the session.

Step 1: Deliver Your In-Person Training

There are two ways to use UE courses during an in-person training session.

Option 1: Present the Course to a Group

A facilitator, typically a Training Administrator (TA), logs into the UE Learning Portal, opens the course, and displays it on a shared screen or projector.

The facilitator guides participants through the course content while everyone follows along.

Note: This is a great option for participants who don’t have access to or may struggle with technology on their own.

Option 2: Have Participants Follow Along on Their Own Devices

Participants can work through the course on their own laptops or other devices while a facilitator leads the session.

Each participant must have a Learning Portal account and access to the course to use this option.

The facilitator can display the course at the front of the room, discuss key concepts, and guide participants as they progress through the material.

Note: Participants who complete the course individually through their own Learning Portal accounts can have their completions tracked directly in the portal.

Step 2: Submit Participant Completions (If Needed)

If participants attended a group presentation without completing the course through their own accounts, you can submit their information to have their completions recorded.

This is particularly important if you want the training to count toward RMPC credit or maintain individual completion records in the Learning Portal.

Prepare Your Spreadsheet

Create an Excel or CSV spreadsheet with the following three columns:

First Name Last Name Email Address
Jane Smith jane.smith@example.edu
John Doe john.doe@example.edu

Include one row for each participant who completed the training.

Submit Your Spreadsheet

  1. Open the In-Person Training Completion Submission Form.
  2. Follow the instructions on the form.
  3. Upload your spreadsheet containing participants’ names and email addresses.
  4. Submit the form.

Good to Know: Participants do not need existing Learning Portal accounts to have their in-person completions recorded. Accounts will be created as needed when the spreadsheet is processed.  Learners will receive emails with their certificates of completion when the file is processed.

Important Information

  • All UE courses require a Learning Portal account to access them.
  • Participants attending a shared-screen presentation do not need individual accounts.
  • Participants accessing courses on their own devices must log into their individual accounts.
  • A facilitator’s course completion does not automatically generate completion records for everyone attending the session.
  • Use the in-person completion submission form when you need to record completions for participants who attended a group presentation without completing the course individually.
