Getting Started

New TAs – Start Here

Use this guide to get started as a Training Administrator in the UE Learning Portal and find the right article for your next task.

Key point

Start by identifying your learners, choosing the right courses, deciding how training will be assigned, and deciding how learners will get accounts.

Understanding your Training Administrator role

A Training Administrator, or TA, helps manage training for an institution in the UE Learning Portal.

With TA permissions on your account, you can:

  • create and manage learner accounts
  • enroll learners in courses
  • create and manage learning plans
  • run reports and review completion data
  • support learners with access or enrollment questions

Finding the UE Learning Portal

The UE Learning Portal is located at learn.ue.org. This site is separate from ue.org, where you can find insurance information and other UE risk management resources.

Branch Codes

Your branch code is your institution’s unique identifier in the Learning Portal. It connects learners to your institution when their accounts are created.

You may need your branch code when:

  • sending instructions for learners to self-register
  • you prepare a bulk upload file

Planning your first training rollout

Before assigning training, answer these questions.

Question What to decide
Who needs training? Identify your learner groups, such as employees, supervisors, students, volunteers, or contractors.
What courses do they need? Decide which courses each group should complete.
How should training be assigned? Choose direct course enrollment or a learning plan.
How will accounts be created? Choose self-registration, manual creation, bulk upload, or automated transfer.

Choosing how to assign training

There are two main ways to assign training in the Learning Portal.

Direct course enrollment Learning plans

Use this option for a simpler setup.

Best when you need:

  • one or more courses assigned directly
  • fewer setup steps
  • a straightforward training rollout

Use this option for a more structured training experience.

Best when you need:

  • optional and required courses together
  • prerequisites or course order
  • deadlines
  • one self-registration link for multiple courses

Tip: Use a learning plan if you need structure. Use direct enrollment if you need simplicity.

Options for Learner Accounts

Choose the account creation method that best fits your learner population.

Self-registration Manual creation Bulk upload Automated transfer
Best when learners should create their own accounts. Best when you only need to add one or a few learners. Best for large or mostly static learner populations. Best for complex or frequently changing populations.
